I was a little excited when I made butter for the first time in my Thermie. About a minute of whipping with the good old butterfly attachment and ta-da! I had real butter and buttermilk too! (Store-bought buttermilk is rather pricey).
I remember when I first attempted it though, I wasn’t sure what it should look like when it separates. The picture below shows how it looks – fat and liquid separated nicely.
Simply insert your rice basket into the Thermie bowl and use it as a strainer by holding it in place while you pour the buttermilk into a separate container. Then follow the Everyday Cookbook steps to wash your butter.
Once it’s been washed with water and squeezed clean you will be scrambling to spread it onto some fresh bread and enjoy (in moderation of course!)
